Brisbane had one of its largest YPO LALA’s to date this week so the competition is on for Forum Rockstar status!
It’s always great to go see a speaker, but there’s nothing quite like getting access to local YPO businesses to inspire you! From dreaming of camper holidays and sun tanning in a container yard, to the brotherhood of linen, the day was certainly enjoyable.
Through three family businesses Apollo Campers, Gateway Container Park and Sunfresh Linen, Brisbane EOers were able to see first-hand why the long-term success rate of family business exceeds that of other, similar sized businesses.
For those who missed it, some of the few take aways for consideration included:
Hard work is vital, stick to what you do best (streamline), learn to say no (kindly) to the smaller clients, review your pricing annually, and customer service and relationships are key. We also pondered whether scale and growth is really your goal or instead higher profits being the focus, along with time for what’s important to you e.g. family or the farm.
Quote of the day: ‘we worked 7 days a week and ate shit sandwiches’
